In my career, I have worked at a number of medical device companies, as well as other high technology companies. Primarily, I have been attracted to dynamic and challenging environments, leading to employment at a couple of start-ups. These experiences were richly stimulating, but at times difficult due to lack of stability.

Aspect Medical Systems was recommended to me by a colleague for its notable product line and exceptional work force, at a time when I was looking for a stable organization. To my good fortune, the work environment at Aspect has maintained its vibrant and invigorating nature even through its growth to a medium sized organization.

I've been an employee at Aspect Medical Systems since its inception over 18 years ago. When asked why I have stayed at one company for my entire professional career my immediate reaction is to express shock that so much time has passed since I first started at Aspect. It certainly doesn't feel as long as it has been. After a moment to consider though I can readily come up with several reasons why I'm proud of Aspect Medical Systems and very happy to be working here.

Aspect Medical Systems has afforded me the opportunity to make a difference, both within the group of individuals I work with as well as the marketplace we sell our products to. A cliché I grant you, but all of us to some degree want to be help people in some fundamental way.
Within the Aspect workplace I feel my contributions have made a difference to my co-workers and me as we strive toward our common internal goals. Just as rewarding however is the realization of our external goal to make a significant and beneficial difference to patient care. I'm proud of the fact that our brain monitoring devices have aided clinicians in their quest to provide better care to their patients.

Aspect Medical has always been an innovator rather than a follower. I personally have always gravitated to the concept of blazing a new trail rather than following a well-worn path. The idea of being the first to see around the next river bend has always been appealing.
What we do at Aspect Medical is to create new and novel applications for brain monitoring. We have set the standard for brain monitoring within the practice of anesthesia and sedation management, a fact that gives me great pride, and we are now setting our sites to aid in the management of antidepressant therapy and the detection of Alzheimer's disease.

Like most people I want to continue to grow intellectually and emotionally; to constantly learn new things about myself and within my field. Working at Aspect Medical has allowed me to do both by providing me access to some wonderful teachers in the form of my colleagues and supervisors.

Lastly, it is paramount in all of my own endeavors to behave in an ethical way. This same philosophy is woven into the fabric of Aspect Medical Systems. We have always emphasized ethical behavior and shared values such as integrity, perseverance, and respect for others as we strive to meet our goals. With that said, it's obvious why I have worked here as long as I have and have never considered leaving.
