Assisted Living Aide(s) - [Valley View & Balt Hse] [Full Time and Part Time]

Primary Function: "SIGN LANGUAGE IS REQUIRED"

Assist elderly individuals who are functionally, physically, and or socially impaired and need 24 hour oversight. The role is to assist residents with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, fostering at all times residents' independence and freedom of choice. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living.

Immediate Supervisor: Resident Care Supervisor and Program Director.

Contacts: Elwyn residents, families and incidental contacts outside the facility.

SIGN LANGUAGE fluency and demonstrated by sign communication proficiency interview (or be culturally deaf and utilize ASL as a primary language), Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of deafness and deaf culture/community.
Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required. Certified Nurses Aide or equivalent training preferred. Valid and current driver's license. Safe driving record required.

PLEASE NOTE: SIGN LANGUAGE IS A REQUIREMENT FOR THIS POSITION AND MUST BE DEMONSTRATED BY SIGN COMMUNICATION PROFICIENCY INTERVIEW; OR BE CULTURALLY DEAF AND UTILIZE ASL AS A PRIMARY LANGUAGE.

Physical Demands:
Ability to perform independent client transfers using assistive devices and practice standard lift techniques; ability to bend and ambulate.

Working Conditions:
Exposure to body wastes, discharges and odors.

Hazards:
Occasional exposure to hazards which could cause serious illness or injury (body waste, infectious diseases.)
