Role Name: Senior Technical Claims Negotiator
Reports to: Technical Claims Manager

Department: Technical Claims Integrity
Location: Haywards Heath
Role Purpose:
Contribute to the department in delivering the Technical Claims business plan to meet business growth targets. Contribute to the monitoring and reporting of performance and progress against the plan.
Key Responsibilities:
· Contribute to and work within the parameters of the agreed business plan for Technical Claims.
· Contribute to and work within agreed processes in order to deliver the business plan in line with the Technical Claims policy
· Motivate and deliver against agreed objectives, KPI’s and SLA’s in order to carry out responsibilities and meet agreed service and performance targets
· Maintain knowledge in specialist area, understanding how legislation developments affect claim handling
· Build and maintain relationships with both Internal and External contacts.
· Conversant with financial implications of claim reserving and settlements. Identify, resolve and monitor any areas of weakness or inconsistencies.

· Negotiate and settle all claims including personal injury and litigated cases effectively and economically.

· Provide technical assistance to the Claims Department.

· The technical negotiators allocation is to be handled within the specified authority limit as defined by the Technical Claims Manager.

· Conduct external investigations and negotiation with solicitors and third party insurers. Attending hearings where necessary.

· Implement, and support other team members in implementing the T.U. philosophy.

· Be responsible for management of team, monitor timekeeping and conduct of staff and other normal duties of the Technical Claims Team Leader in their absence or as and when required.

· Know, understand and apply the principles of TCF, and report any potential area of risk to your line manager

Key Skills and Knowledge
· Minimum of 5 years technical knowledge of claims handling and personal insurance market
· Minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent, including English and Maths
· Negotiation skills in order to settle high value and / or complex claims
· Knowledge of audit and analysis to enable reporting and decision making
· Demonstrated the ability to deal with all heads of claim on multitrack cases as relevant to motor claims.

- Experience in handling £250K+ claims

· An understanding of the main principles of English and Scottish law as it applies to the technical claims environment.

· Is fully conversant of the Road Traffic Act and the implications of being RTA/Article 75 insurer.

· Ability to pay attention to detail and good organisational skills.

· Conversant with current case law and awards.
