Job Details

 

We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience on Mining projects with large scale mills, to operate out of Vancouver.

 

Responsibilities

-       Overseas all aspects of a large mill projects including review of process parameters, testwork, equipment sizing, layouts, specification development & review, bid generation and review, supplier interaction, etc.;

-       Manages communications and interactions between client representatives, process team, engineering team, project managers, independent consultants and suppliers;

-       Participate in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives;

-       Responsible for supervising large groups of professionals and non-professionals or small groups of specialized engineers or as a highly specialized technical engineer in servicing heavy industrial clients in the Mining sector;

-       The ability to lead large or small projects is an asset.

 

Requirements

-       Previous Mining and/or Consulting Engineering experience is critical;

-       20 years of experience in Mining on projects with large mechanical mills;

-       Strong communication skills;

-       The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents;

-       Knowledge of Process Piping, Materials Handling, Mechanical Drives, Wrap Around Motors, Lubrication Systems, Underground and Surface Pumping, Backfill systems, foundations, and HVAC;

-       Extensive Knowledge of Large Grinding Mills (+36 ft, +20,000HP) & Crushers is required;

-    HPGR experience and knowledge would be an asset

-       Experience in communicating with other design disciplines and having an appreciation for the impact of their designs on other design disciplines is an asset;

-       Must have strong computer oriented skills (familiarity with Autocad, MS Office, FEA Analysis, Numerical Methods Solutions...);

-    Knowledge of various large mill sizing methodologies including SPI, SAGDesign, & JKDrop

-    Experience with various mill modelling software such as JKSimet or equivalent

-       University Degree in Mechanical Engineering. And a minimum of ten (10) to twelve (12) years of related engineering and/or administrative experience;

      -       Registration as a Professional Engineer is mandatory.
