VMM is a faith based organisation who recruit, train, place and support volunteers on two year placements with Partner Organisations in Africa and Asia.  VMM works with people and communities regardless of religion, politics or social status. For more information go to www.vmm.ie

Please note due to funding restrictions only EU passport holders can be considered for the Camara Long-Term volunteer programme.  As part of the recruitment process Camara require candidates to attend interviews and training weeks/weekends in Dublin and other parts of Ireland.  Candidates will be required to cover the cost of their own travel and accommodation.

Environmental Manager

Finalise and help implement Camara's policy on the disposal of eWaste in Africa

Reporting to: Technical Director, Dublin

Location: African HQ

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Research, develop and implement a sustainable recycling program for the hub countries

Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices

Liaise with appropriate government counterpart to understand environmental policy and make them aware of how Camara handles eWaste

Train up Hub personnel on the eWaste policy

Monitor and record the disposal of Hub eWaste

Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical and social responsibility

   Desirable

    Possess degree in one of the following or similar:
  • environmental engineering; 
  • environmental health;
  • environmental sciences;
  • ecology

    Experience living overseas in a developing country
