The Physical Oceanography Department - Upper Ocean Sciences Group, is looking for a Research Associate II/III to join their team. This is a regular full-time position and is eligible for benefits.
Job Summary:
Help in the planning and logistics of fieldwork; coordinate efforts with manufacturers, collaborators, and WHOI staff; perform initial data processing including data quality control; apply time series analysis and other methods to analyze data; maintain data archives; assist in preparation of technical reports and scientific publications; perform and coordinate multiple, complex logistics and/or data analysis projects simultaneously. Experience in coordination/management of field campaigns. Familiarity with geophysical instrumentation and data. Computer programming experience (MATLAB experience desirable); familiarity with basic methods of statistical and time series analysis. Ability to go to sea for extended periods of time (about 1 month at a time up to 3 times/year)
Education Desired:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physical oceanography, meteorology, or another technical field such as physics, engineering, or computer science
