Job Title Engineer I/II - Electrical Description The Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering Department is searching for an Electrical Engineer I/II - to join the Advanced Engineering Lab. The AEL is a diverse group of engineers working on a wide variety of oceanographic projects such as, acoustic and optical telemetry, ocean observatories and undersea vehicles among others. This is a regular full-time position and is eligible for benefits.
Job Summary:
Entry level and experienced Electrical Engineers will provide design input and engineering analysis for assigned tasks under the supervision of more senior engineers. The Electrical Engineer will apply engineering theory to create and analyze schematics and layouts of electrical designs using computer aided design (CAD), develop hardware and software prototypes, test, troubleshoot and document results. The Electrical Engineer will coordinate with engineers, designers and technicians to complete assigned engineering tasks. Experience in the areas of digital signals processing, FPGA design and software development is preferred Participation in at-sea field work will be required.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to create and document electrical designs using fundamental engineering principals. Experience with CAD for analysis, schematic capture and layout is required. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required. Willingness and ability to perform at-sea assignments is a must.
Desired Education
ENGINEER I Engineering degree or other appropriate discipline with minimal work experience, or evidence of an established, specialized engineering skill gained through experience in the absence of a formal degree.
ENGINEER II Master's degree in an engineering or appropriate field with minimal experience, or Bachelor's degree in engineering or appropriate field with several years of relevant experience, or equivalent work experience in the absence of a formal degree.
Position level and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
