The Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering Department is searching for a Part Time Helper to join their team. This is a regular casual position and is not eligible for benefits. The anticipated hours of employment will be up to 40 hours in the summer and sporadic hours in the fall/winter.
Organizing files, general lab clean-up, lab assistance as needed. Must be willing to take on a variety of tasks.
Physical duties for this position include but are not limited to lifting up to 75 lbs independently (150 lbs with assistance), above the shoulder, shoulder to knee, knee to floor. Carrying up to 50 lbs independently, visual abilities to include depth perception, ability to see peripherally, ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus, ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing ability includes the ability to communicate in a lab environment. Occasional prolonged standing/walking, manual dexterity/mobility, use of hands for fine/basic grasping/manipulation, occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. May be exposed to excessive heat/humidity, dust or other irritants, grease and oils, electrical/mechanical/power equipment hazards. Physical duties are subject to change.
Completion of 9th grade.
