In addition to developing project work plans and schedules for multiple projects through Engineering, QA, and deployment phases, the Project Manager reports against those schedules and identifies discrepancies between expected and actual progress, develops recovery plans, and communicates status effectively with other members of the management team.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

ITA is developing a next generation Passenger Service Solution for the Airline Industry. A PSS holds much of the important state that's managed by an airline: which seats are available, which tickets have been purchased, who is on which flight, and much, much more. ITA runs relational databases from several different RDBMS vendors that sit behind our PSS products. We're looking for a new member to join the Database Administration Team which maintains these databases.

Our databases run in a clustered Linux environment. The DBA team expends lots of effort to ensure that the databases that ITA runs are highly available, upgradable, and performing to requirements. They help us to meet these goals while managing hundreds of different database nodes across ITA's multiple datacenters. The DBAs work closely with the Data Architect team, and support the engineering teams which develop and extend the core applications.

We're looking for someone to join this team who is a computer scientist at heart who happens to have expertise in Oracle. While knowledge of Oracle is a key requirement of the job, we're ultimately looking for someone who knows how to leverage that knowledge to help us integrate Oracle into our application stack in a way that's consistent with how we run our homegrown apps.

This position will be responsible for responding to a customer hotline and all paging systems while on duty. This employee will work overnights.

Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot and escalate issues while monitoring a corporate IT infrastructure in support of remote application hosting and data distribution, and support clients in their use of the product and the hosting environments
Monitor 24x7 environments for system alerts and respond according to procedure; also perform proactive monitoring to minimize system alerts and anticipate problems
Report systems and environmental issues to second-level support or management as directed by escalation procedures
Assist with escalations as requested by engineers or management
Answer 24x7 customer hotline, gather the information needed to respond and react according to the guidelines relevant to the reported event; document and escalate hotline calls as required by procedure; maintain contact with the customer through problem resolution and report status periodically as directed by management

Testing a Data Storage System Internship

ITA is building a new high-performance data storage system for its airline reservation and inventory management products. When complete, it will store terabytes of interrelated data that must be retrieved and updated in a few milliseconds. And it all has to happen in an environment with 24x7 availability, where downtime is measured in minutes per year. That’s why we need an intern to help ensure the data storage system really lives up to its requirements! This intern will work with the data storage team to devise a suite of the nastiest, torturous, and most brutal test scripts they can imagine; write tests in Python; execute them against a rapidly changing and complex codebase; and analyze the results.

Requirements:

Write tests that delve into concurrency, low-level storage mechanisms, transaction control, data retrieval and modification, queries, disk-based indexes, and multithreaded request processing.

Knowledge & Skills:

Experience in Python or a similar language
Understanding of testing methodologies and/or profiling and debugging C++ applications a plus

The focus of this project will be to automate the current ticketing system statistics which are manually gathered and present them to the user community in a simple and transparent fashion. Additionally, we will be building this reporting environment (which is initially used by IT) as a new service which IT will provide to other departments.

Combine data from multiple locations and aggregate into a single database
Use Pentaho, an open source business intelligence tool, to interface with the database and generate adhoc reports
Create an IT end user dashboard, auto generated weekly, to quickly display whether or not high-level metrics were met, and the percentages of those statistics
