Vistakon, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. The Limerick Facility is the only Vistakon manufacturing site outside the U.S. The Company manufactures a range of ACUVUE disposable contact lenses to the highest quality. We are the largest producer disposable contact lenses in the world and ACUVUE is the leading product in the market. The technology at Limerick is the most advanced in the contact lens industry and we now employ over 500 people on site.

All product is manufactured to rigorous parameter specification within a class 100,000 cleanroom environment. The production process is fully automated and form start to finish the lens is untouched by hand. Since our final product will be in touch with the human eyeball, there are stringent quality and hygiene checks throughout. Overall the plant's information systems are run in accordance with ISO and FDA regulations.

The facility was originally fitted out with six advanced production lines to manufacture one day disposable contact lenses for the European and Japanese Markets. We now have over 20 production lines to manufacture one-day, fortnightly, monthly and colour lenses that are shipped worldwide. Vistakon manufactures the other ACUVUE brands, ADVANCE, BIFOCAL & TORC at our Jacksonville facility.

We are now in the process of our Fourth expansion and will be receiving delivery of another 6 production lines over the next couple of months. We will be recruiting for approximately 80 new positions in a number of different departments. So Exciting times ahead…
