Overview

Pramerica are seeking to recruit a Middleware Support Specialist to join the Technology Services group. E-Commerce support team is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of software infrastructure associated with Prudential’s Internet and Intranet applications.

The Middleware Support specialist would be responsible for the installation and maintenance of various E-Commerce related technologies, along with support of their user base.  These technologies include, but are not limited to, IBM Websphere, Datapower, Software AG webMethods and Apigee API environments.

Summary

Candidates with appropriate experience with any of the above technologies would be considered, experience with multiple technologies would be a plus. Job responsibilities include;

  • Installation, configuration, and management of above platforms in both Pre-Production and Production environments on either on premise / AWS cloud environments                            
  • Performance management/monitoring/debug of the environments to maintain appropriate availability for the infrastructure and associated applications
  • Interface with development community to assist in troubleshooting problems in all tiers
  • Maintain relationships with other business partners, vendors and professional organizations
  • Support staff in solving problems and incorporating new processes and technology to enhance infrastructure performance and reliability
  • Maintain a well-controlled and resilient technology environment, including the identification and management of IT risks in coordination with company policies and IT governance standards

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and partnering skills
  • 5+ years of experience supporting such technologies as IBM Websphere, Datapower, webMethods or Apigee
  • Proficient in Unix skills with RedHat Linux preferred
  • Proficient in use of scripting (Shell, Ansible, etc.) to automate day to day tasks such as software installation using native Linux tools such as yum
  • Proficient in web based architectural concepts including http/https communication protocols, calls, headers, and return codes
  • Proficient in TCP/IP concepts as applied to Middleware communication
  • Familiar with distributed authentication mechanisms such as client certificates, Basic Authentication, OAUTH or others
  • Basic Authentication, OAUTH or others

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering required
  • 5+ years’ experience in a systems role with a good mix of technology skills
  • Excellent problem solving and Root Cause Analysis skills
  • The ability to develop solutions, document and communicate outcomes to stakeholders and non-technologists
  • Capable of producing well documented requirements, developing designs, preparing and executing implementation plans
  • Proficiency in understanding, analyzing and defining corrective actions from data provided in log files

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Project)
  • Ability to multi-task and work on several high priority projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Provide 7x24 on-call support when required
  • Provide off-hour problem management and change implementation support
