The following staff opportunity has arisen in the Strategic Property Management Division, IDA Ireland, Athlone for a 12-month fixed term role.

To work within the Legal, Compliance & Governance Section of the Property Management Division and primarily focus on the resolution of legacy service charge debt, in compliance with all Legal and Internal IDA Ireland Procedures; and to work with property and finance executives and external solicitors in reviewing, negotiating and concluding the legacy service charge debt. 


  • To review the respective legacy service charge debt files & Leases and procure, appoint and instruct external solicitors in each and every case.
  • To make contact with the respective debtors/solicitors, engage in discussions and seek resolution to the legacy service charge debt;
  • To liaise with the Property Executives, IDA Accounts Department, IDA’s Estate managers and IDA external solicitors where required;
  • To meet with Tenants in arrears to resolve legacy debt issues & bring cases to a satisfactory conclusion instructing solicitors to legally pursue debt on IDA’s behalf where necessary;
  • To prepare approval documents and present to the appropriate IDA Committees for the debt resolution in each case; As such a track record that demonstrates strong written & oral negotiation & persuasion skills are essential to this role.
  • To bring the portfolio of overall legacy service charge debt to a satisfactory conclusion by either debt settlement or approved write-off;
  • To assist with all queries both internal and external relating to the existing IDA property portfolio and previously completed legal cases, sourcing and reviewing documentation where necessary;
  • To work closely with IDA’s appointed Estate Managers –reviewing files, following up on cases, seeking current statements of account, seeking historic invoices, attending Estate Manager meetings with IDA team, providing monthly updates to Accounts for presentation to Committee. Monitoring current service charge debt files highlighting to relevant property executives where debt is starting to rise.
  • To assist the Property Legal Executives with a range of property transactions where necessary; To review and manage the external solicitors instructed in each case;
  • To demonstrate a flexible approach to the workload of the unit & the role which will alos require involvement in other Property related projects and tasks including but not limited to information requests/ reporting/ process & procedures / procurement in support of the unit fulfilling its strategic objectives.
  • To demonstrate a positive approach to learning, personal development and new areas of work & to show a willingness to learn and show initiative / creativity within the role.
  • To contribute to the Department as part of the Strategic Property Management Team;

Additional Requirements

  • A relevant third level Legal/Business qualification is essential and experience of working in Property debt or Legal related functions would be advantageous;
  • A full driving licence is essential;
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise, work  independently and on own initiative;
  • Aspects of this role will require travel and working outside of normal office hours;
  • Ongoing flexibility and interest in international career progression and development is required;



€43,046 (Non-negotiable)
