The Team The Operations Office manages the operation of the power system and market, ensuring that the lights stay on in a secure, reliable, sustainable and economic way. The Operations Office through a joint venture call the Single Electricity Operator (SEMO) is also responsible for administering Fuel Mix Disclosure (FMD) for the Single Electricity Market (SEM) and Guarantees of Origin (GO) issuance for Ireland. FMD provides reliable information regarding the sources of electricity that suppliers have chosen to meet their customers’ demand and the related environmental impact. GOs are electronic certificates issued to a producer of electricity generated from renewable energy sources. Deadlines can be daily, weekly, monthly and as a result the role holder must work closely with the GO & FMD team members to ensure that deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained. The Opportunity The role of the Senior Controller will be to develop and operate the business processes within the GO & FMD functions of Market Operations, including planning, co-ordinating and supporting team members in delivery to a high standard and within deadlines. The Senior Controller will be the key contact in engagement with industry stakeholders including Market Participants, Regulatory Authorities, Government Departments and other European GO issuing bodies. Key Responsibilities - Co-ordinate the operation of the GO & FMD within agreed timelines, while ensuring it is accurate, reliable and meets regulatory requirements.
- Co-ordinate the execution of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly deliverables for GO & FMD utilising the available team and their skillsets.
- Identify issues and propose practical solutions, escalating complex issues to the Team Lead and Head of Function as appropriate.
- Provide business requirements for GO & FMD system developments, manage vendor implementation projects and test new systems prior to release.
- Liaise with the EirGrid Group Information Technology team and external service providers to maintain and implement changes to the GO registry and FMD applications.
- Resolve general customer queries within defined KPIs acting as a second line support.
- Maintain records to a high standard and support the internal and external audits contributions of the team.
- Liaise regularly at an operational level with key stakeholders including Suppliers, Generators, Meter Data Providers, Regulators, Service Providers and Government Departments maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.
- Maintain awareness and influence policy on GO and FMD, including leading engagement with Regulatory Authorities, Departments and Market Participants, Meter Data Providers, Suppliers and Generators on the implementation of changes required by local or European policy.
- Represent SEMO in European forums including GO Association meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Third level qualification in Business, IT, Finance or similar.
- Typically with 3+ years’ experience in energy markets or a commercial environment.
- Experience in co-ordinating and overseeing delivery of key tasks within a team
- Demonstrable track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong customer, market and commercial awareness
- Excellent time management and coordination skills.
- Effective communicator – expressing information and ideas to others in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- A high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications
