The Opportunity

We now seeking Engineers to join our Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM).

We have variety of new roles from junior engineers to senior lead engineers for the following areas: Client Engineering, Asset Management and Offshore. 

The successful candidates will perform engineering assignments to ensure that business priorities are met. The client engineering function is responsible for undertaking project design reviews/site inspections on both contestable and non-contestable transmission projects to ensure that projects are developed in accordance with EirGrid functional specification standards. Delivery of these projects is required to meet key departmental and company objectives.

The Team
The Engineering & Asset Management is responsible for undertaking four key roles; asset management, technical authority, onshore engineering and offshore engineering. The team is responsible for setting the technical engineering policies and standards to be used for transmission infrastructure, monitoring compliance during design and construction and for ensuring asset integrity and ensuring uninterrupted power system functionality.


The Engineering and Asset Management and Offshore Delivery are the areas within EirGrid which facilitates that role through the development of technical standards and functional specifications for all plant to be connected to the transmission system and the development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies.

In addition, these areas are responsible for ensuring that EirGrid’s requirements are incorporated in project design and construction whether the works are carried out by ESB Networks or by third parties.

About you
Successful candidates will have:
  • Electrical  Engineering qualification to degree level or equivalent qualification, typically with 4+ years relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Good technical knowledge in high voltage transmission design with strong knowledge of transmission technology including new and emerging technologies.
  • Transmission Substation design expertise with experience assessing substation designs for conformity to standards at 110/220/400 kV.
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on high quality report writing and ability.
  • Experience preparing and issuing transmission design drawings, such as single line diagrams, substation layout drawings, protection schematics and interlocking drawings, etc
  • Experience completing onsite inspections and monitoring of construction progress for compliance.
  • Full drivers licence.
