2RN distributes and transmits the programme services of RTÉ Radio and Television, TV3, TG4 and Today FM, National TV services Saorview and Saorsat and national, regional and local FM and LW radio services. 2RN also provides site services/facilities to mobile telephone and broadband operators, private communications companies and emergency services.

Opportunity We now have the opportunity for two riggers to join and grow with our experienced & specialist rigging teams working in a unique nationwide infrastructure environment. The purpose of the job includes the installation, maintenance and repair of broadcast and telecommunication antenna systems and structures.
Key Responsibilities: Working under the direction of a Rigging Supervisor and as part of a co-ordinated rigging team the rigger is responsible for the:
- Installation, routine maintenance, repair and inspection of all types of broadcast and telecommunication antenna systems and structures
- Construction of masts and towers
- Installation of low and high-power UHF and FM antenna systems
- Installation of Microwave Antenna Dishes up to 3m in diameter and associated waveguides
- Testing and Commissioning of Broadcast Antenna Systems
- Working at heights up to 220m on a range of broadcast structures including poles, towers and masts to install antennas, feeders and ancillary equipment.
- Working with cranes and MEWPs as required on site
- Conducting site audits
- Inspect and document all new third-party installations on 2RN structures to ensure the highest standard of installations across 2RN network infrastructure
- Executing all tasks assigned to the highest standard
- Documenting and communicating work-related information, including reporting of faults and problems.
- Working with team members to achieve all targets
- Liaison with contractors and suppliers
- Operating in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Company Policies and Statutory Health and Safety regulations
- Assisting the Team Lead as required
- Maintaining a high level of professionalism while representing the company
Knowledge and Experience - Minimum 3 years’ experience as telecommunications/broadcast rigger or comparable role required
- Experienced rigger with ability to climb masts and towers and carry out maintenance /installation tasks on structures up to 220 metres in height
- An understanding of the installation and maintenance of all types of antenna systems and structures
- Full clean driving licence preferably with category EB and available for regular travel
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively on their own and collaboratively as a part of a team
- Computer literate
- Candidates should also be team players and have a proactive approach to problem solving.
Note: Current climbing, rescue, working rope access, first aid and RF awareness training certificates are beneficial but not essential as required training will be provided.
Working Arrangements: Typically work is scheduled over 4 x 10-hour days per week (Monday-Thursday/Tuesday-Friday), a minimum of 6 weekends per year and has an on-call liability.
Remuneration: Appointment will be made on an ongoing, full-time contract basis on the Rigger Grade salary range of €34,363 to €56,916, plus Rigging and On Call allowances.
