RTÉ is Ireland’s national public-service media organisation. We are embarking upon an ambitious and exciting 5-year transformation strategy to update the way we run the organisation. Our mission is to serve as an independent source of stories, news, information and entertainment for Ireland, reflecting the diversity of its people and providing experiences that enrich the lives of all.
This sense of purpose motivates us to deliver to the highest standards in an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and engaging. Attracting and retaining the best talent is key in delivering to our audiences. We want our people to thrive in an environment that values their output.
Meet the Team
RTÉ Podcasts was created to engage with an audience aged under 45 which increasingly consumes media on non-linear platforms. Our plan is to build habit-forming podcasts which place RTÉ at the centre of this audience’s digital audio consumption.
About the role:
We are currently seeking to appoint two Podcast Producers to work across Entertainment and Sport.
If successful in your application, you will:
Perform a central role in building RTÉ’s podcasting operation, informing its identity as it grows
Work closely with the Head of Podcasting in the process of developing new ideas
Initiate and create compelling, unmissable content for a range of platforms including digital audio, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and RTÉ.ie
Oversee all aspects of a podcast's production from idea generation onwards - to include set design, brand design, host and guest management
Manage each episode’s editing, recording, distribution and promotion on audio, video and text platforms, including social media
Be part of a creative team working to strict deadlines - often in pressurised situations
Interact with people working across RTÉ and the independent sector in the production and promotion of RTÉ podcasts
Work with podcast platforms to increase the visibility and promotion of RTÉ’s podcasts
About you:
The podcasting department is looking to hire people who are innovative, tech-literate, and editorially brave. Successful candidates for either of the above jobs will have:
An instinctive drive to connect with audiences and an understanding of the younger audience that is currently underserved by RTÉ
A strong sense of what makes a compelling host, guest, topic or format idea
A strong background in digital media production, with an ability to use images, video, audio and text to maximise the impact of RTÉ’s podcasts across various platforms – in particular on social media
An understanding of podcast formats and trends in digital audio
A readiness to learn new technologies as they emerge or become relevant to the work of the podcasting department
An ability to work constructively and positively in a fast-moving production environment
Sound editorial judgement and the capacity to work closely and creatively with others
An understanding of how AI is shaping the media environment will be an advantage - including both the challenges it poses and the opportunities it presents.
