PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Analyst, Portfolio Management assist with managing and monitoring assigned client portfolios, investments activities, trading securities and custody. The incumbent undertakes analysis and research, effective and efficient execution of trades and computation of client valuations and client engagement.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assists with generation of client presentations and general business development activities, including events & seminars to support the grow of Assets under Management (AUM) and ensure the achievement of the team’s overall targets for business development through new and existing discretionary investment management and custody clients.
Completes all aspects of the trade execution process, including accurate execution and settlement of trades to ensure clients' interests are paramount and service standards are exemplary.
Assists with the review and monitoring of the Investment Policy statements relative to portfolio valuations, highlighting discrepancies to the Portfolio Manager to ensure alignment of the Investment Policy with client’s risk tolerance thereby ensuring maximum productivity and profitability, maximizing client retention and the growth of assets under management.
Supports the accurate calculation of performance of the Bank’s main pension plans (consolidated, defined benefits and defined contributions) to ensure adherence to stated investment objectives of the plans and update the performance of the plan (performance information.
Supports the team’s adherence to compliance procedures and standards, completing day-to-day activities in compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines, and legislation / regulations and escalating issues to the Portfolio Manager, where required to ensure that Bank and regulatory compliance procedures and standards are adhered to and that a solid risk and control environment is created and followed to minimize trading losses at the company level.
Maintains a trading network with external brokers in Canada, USA, and Europe, including the provision of research information and trading support for investment opportunities to ensure best execution on every trade based on broker selection and regional selection.
Completes drafting and delivery of investment valuations to stakeholders (internal and external clients), including keeping up to date on global events and current affairs to support the growth of the client base and assets under management.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
2-4 years’ experience in a client servicing role in a financial institution preferably with exposure to investment clientele in international markets and investment vehicles.
Pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Investment Manager professional designation would be an asset.
Knowledge of investment administration including preparation of portfolio valuations, trade processing and back-office procedures
Knowledge of markets sufficient
Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.
Proficient knowledge of investment platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Pershing, etc.
