Role PurposeThe Communications Officer will support the Communications and Public Affairs team to deliver high-quality, timely internal and external communications across a range of channels. This includes supporting the in-house production of video materials for both internal and external audiences, as well as contributing to the planning and execution of an increasing number of organisational events. The role will also provide valuable support to strategic cross-functional initiatives and work with our User Education team to produce material to inform and empower the public. Communications is a strategic enabler for all our work at Coimisiún na Meán, so the role will directly support the achievement of the organisation’s overall objectives by ensuring our work is effectively communicated to our diverse audiences.
About the Team/DivisionThe Communications and Public Affairs team at Coimisiún na Meán plays a vital role in shaping and maintaining the organisation's reputation and relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally. We are responsible for developing and implementing communications approaches that promote awareness and understanding of Coimisiún na Meán's remit and activities. This includes engaging with the media, and elected representatives, managing our online presence, and overseeing events, as well as internal communications. Through our work, we aim to foster a positive and informed public discourse on media development and regulation in Ireland and beyond, and provide clarity on our organisation’s role, responsibilities and activities.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver effective internal communications to support the organisation using different tactics and channels, including analysing, monitoring and reporting on engagement metrics regularly to measure impact of activities;
- Maintain, update, and develop content for the organisation’s intranet, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timeliness
- Work on the delivery of Coimisiún na Meán internal and external events alongside the Higher Executive Officer and Assistant Principal;
- Support the development, creation and editing of video content for use internally and externally;
- Assist with the development of ongoing content updates to the Coimisiún na Meán website;
- Support the press and public affairs function and our digital communications initiatives, including social media management;
- Support the team with administration tasks including purchase orders, updating contact lists, while ensuring compliance with GDPR.

- Demonstrated experience in video production and editing for internal and/or external communications, including software such as Premier Pro or CapCut;
- Strong problem-solving skills are essential including the ability to think critically and develop innovative, practical solutions to challenges.
- Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing events, including managing logistics and communications;
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across a range of audiences;
- Proficiency in using digital communications tools and platforms, including Mailchimp, Wordpress, Canva, Hootsuite, SharePoint as well as familiarity with managing content across various digital channels (including social media)
Desirable Criteria- Fluency in or a working knowledge of the Irish language.
Benefits, Package & Pay- This position is offered on a Permanent basis.
- Full time, 35 hrs per week
- Annual Leave: 23 days per annum
- The role will be a hybrid role combining home and office working. Our current hybrid policy is 2 days in the office.
