Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is an exciting and dynamic place to work. Purpose of the role: 
The Grade VII will develop effective and credible working relationships within the directorates and departments across the hospital that positively influence patient and staff experience. The Grade VII will work under the direction and control of the Clinical and Operational Managers.

Overview of role:
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Manage ICT Network and Security performance, configuration, maintenance and repair to ensure optimal performance and availability for all ICT infrastructure, systems and key processes
  • Manage and supervise the day to day operations of the IIS Network & Security Team
  • Manage and participate in ICT Projects as required
  • Manage change control procedure for the IIS Network & Security environment
  • Ensure ICT documentation and records are created and maintained
  • Provide backup and support for ICT peers as requested.
  • Manage operational reliability of ICT network and security environment
  • Contribute and input to ICT infrastructure design
  • Provide direction and support to colleagues as required
  • Lead problem solving efforts, often involving outside vendors and other support personnel
  • Maintain and update ICT policies, procedures and guidelines as required.
  • Ensure ICT IIS network & security policies and procedures are followed
  • Test recovery of network and security environment in accordance with ICT PPG’s
  • Perform monthly performance reporting as required
  • Manage and carry out planned preventative tasks for IIS network & security Team
  • Participate in the ICT on call
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support
  • Provide cross cover for other IIS team members as required
  • Deputise for ICT Infrastructure Services Manager when required.

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other departments and directorates
  • Continuously monitoring existing procedures to ensure they comply with best practice and the development of new/improved procedures where appropriate
  • Project Management as required
  • Use all technology and equipment assigned and complete all essential training successfully
  • To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibilities as may be required from time to time

Qualifications & Experience required
Must have:
  • 3rd Level qualification or relevant vendor certifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience including:
    • Managing / Deploying Network LAN, WLAN and WAN in 500 plus user organisation.
    • Have a deep understanding of networking protocols / specifications (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)  
    • Experience using network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g. HP IMC, Cisco Prime, Netflow, Wireshark)  
  • Have working knowledge of any 3 of the following:
    • HP Switches
    • Aruba Switches
    • Aruba Wi-Fi Controllers
    • Cisco Nexus Switches
    • Cisco Wi-Fi Controllers
    • CheckPoint Firewalls
    • Netscaller Load Balancers
    • Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written word.
  • Prince2 or PMI certified
  • Experience in similar hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of VMWare VSphere and VMWare NSX
  • Knowledge of VXLan
  • Experience in the Health Sector environment 

Reward & Recognition
  • Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, grade code 0582
  • The appointment is whole time, permanent and pensionable
  • The annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year
  • Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement
