Senior Dietitian Roles

We have exciting opportunities for Dietitians to join our team, in many areas, including:
    • Care of Older Persons: Acute Inpatients; Day Unit Services; and Emergency Department Intervention Team (2.5 WTE Senior)
    • Regional Specialist Memory Clinic (0.5 WTE Senior)
    • Acute Medical Inpatient Services, including the Medical Short Stay Unit (1.0 WTE Senior)
    • Oncology (1.0 WTE Senior)
    • Stroke Service (1.0 WTE Senior)
    • Chronic Kidney Disease (0.5 WTE Senior)
    • Disorders of Gut Brain Interaction/Functional GI Service (0.5 WTE Clinical Specialist Post)

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients within the designated area
  • Work in close collaboration with the other Dietitians assigned to the service and related specialties; provide cross cover as required
  • Provide expert nutritional advice for the multidisciplinary team and actively engage with the team by attending ward rounds, conferences, lunch meetings and grand rounds relevant to the area
  • Participate in the design and implementation of protocols/procedures for nutritional screening, referral, assessment and intervention
  • Record statistical information and produce reports as required
  • Supervise Basic Grade Dietitians and participate in their continuing professional training and development
  • Assist in the clinical training of Student Dietitians on placement in the Hospital
  • Participate in the Departments upskilling program for Dietitians which will provide an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills to work in other specialties
  • Participate in the education programs run by the department for hospital staff
  • Be responsible for his/her own professional development and keep abreast of developments in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Initiate and actively participate in audit and in quality improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to the enhancement of clinical practice through participation in audit and research
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of standards and policies relating to the Nutrition & Dietetic service
  • Contribute to and participate in quality improvement initiatives, undertaken by the department
  • Carry out other duties appropriate to the post, as may be assigned by the Manager of Nutrition & Dietetics
Qualifications & Experience required
  • Be registered as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU*
  • Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued
  • Have at least 3 years full time (or equivalent) post qualification clinical dietetic experience
  • Experience in the provision of artificial nutrition support, enteral and parenteral
  • Experience working in the area of speciality.
*Candidates who are eligible for registration with CORU in the coming six months
may apply.  However any offer of employment would be subject to successfully
receiving registration.

Reward & Recognition
  • Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, grade code 3395
  • The appointment is permanent and pensionable
  • The annual leave entitlement is 29 working days per year. The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year
  • Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days. Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement
