Post Title:  Product User Experience Lead


Rate of Pay: Salary offered will be commensurate with relevant experience and the level of responsibility undertaken in the post. Benefits include (subject to certain eligibility criteria) membership of the Group Pension Scheme, up to 25 days paid annual leave and an Occupational Sickness Scheme.

In order to realize their digital ambitions, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product User Experience Lead to help Manchester United provide world-class digital experiences for our fans and partners. This an excellent opportunity for an outstanding individual, who is keen to work within a fast-paced environment, delivering high impact and highly visible digital products across all channels for one of the biggest sports brands in the world.

As part of a busy media department this senior role sits within the Digital Product team in the Media department, and involves collaborating closely with Product Managers, senior stakeholders, and engineering teams in order to realize exceptional experiences.

Not just a capable visual designer, the ideal candidate must have a strong background and history of delivering world-class user experiences across a multitude of channels, and should be as comfortable hands-on tools as they are at conceptual thinking.


Key Responsibilities

Authority on the UX & design of Manchester United’s digital products, with a holistic approach to service design.

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the business, in order to gather, understand, and reflect requirements in products.

Ownership of the design process and deliveries, including: leading workshops, generating concepts, information architecture, wireframing and prototyping, user research, documenting designs, and asset generation.

Articulate, justify, and sell design decisions, balancing fan needs, commercial interests, and technological constraints.

Work closely with the development team to ensure that user experiences and designs match expectations, and meet high quality thresholds.

Championing accessibility and ensuring it is fully considered in all our product experiences.

Collaborating with the Manchester United design team to ensure we are delivering experiences in-line with the Manchester United brand.

Communicate and document product experiences internally.

Work with 3rd party suppliers across a range of disciplines.



Significant relevant industry experience (5+ years) working with high-profile brands, with a demonstrable portfolio of deliveries.

Experience of multi-channel interaction & service design, product design patterns, and best practices contextual to devices.

Experience working with multiple cross-discipline teams, including engineering, editorial, and product management.

Extensive experience and knowledge about user-centred design, user testing and research methodologies.

High expertise in Sketch, Adobe toolkit, and wireframe/prototyping tools.

HTML / CSS / JS knowledge and understanding .

Quick on the tools, but with quality at the heart of all deliveries.

An interest in technology and its impact on product design, with an appreciation of the software development process.

The ability to work under pressure, a problem solver, as well as a great visual, written, and verbal communicator.

Broad knowledge and passion for all aspects of the product design process.

Hours of Work

The employee is required to work 35 hours per week. Hours of work should be planned in accordance with the demands of the business and as such it will be necessary to work outside normal business hours from time to time.
