The role holder will lead the development of EirGrid Groups IT infrastructure and its architecture. They will develop target-state guidance for evolving the IT infrastructure across the enterprise, to enable business strategy and deliver targeted business capabilities. 

You will lead the definition of future-stage technology architecture and associated roadmaps, ensuring that the appropriate technology capability benefits are identified to respond to the needs of the business. You will analyse technology, industry and market trends to determine the potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the technology architecture.

Working with the Enterprise Architect, you will design the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise technology architecture compliance of projects and products and drive digital innovation by leveraging innovative new technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and transform the existing core technology base and IT estate.

You will lead the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy, and infrastructure debt, and recommend solutions for improvement. You will identify the high-level costing and financing approach for key technology deployments from Ireland/ Northern Ireland perspective with a focus on regulatory engagement.

You will have typically 8+ years experience in an IT architecture role with an understanding of infrastructure technologies, including experience of working with hyper-scale cloud environments.  You will have a background in delivering solutions that securely span a complex infrastructure domain and high-availability environments with an ability to understand technical processes and challenges and create pragmatic solutions.

You will have experience designing and implementing SaaS and IaaS deployments and have the ability to interpret non-functional requirements for uptime, availability, business continuity and security requirements, and their translation into IT architecture solutions for on-premise and cloud environments.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and “sell” the concepts and objectives to the business, as well as technical leadership with the ability to lead and influence others to move towards a common vision or goal.

Industry certification in IT architecture with Agile and Scrum Master experience are desirable. Knowledge of energy sector information technology solutions and/or knowledge of cybersecurity would also be an advantage.
