Applications are invited for the above 11 month agency contract in Transmission Projects, Grid Development & Interconnection.

 

 

Background

EirGrid is the independent electricity Transmission System Operator (TSO) in Ireland and in Northern Ireland (through its wholly owned subsidiary, SONI).  EirGrid is also the Market Operator (MO) for the wholesale trading system in Ireland. The Single Electricity Market Operator (SEMO) is part of the EirGrid Group, and operates the Single Electricity Market on the island of Ireland. EirGrid also owns and operates the East-West Interconnector (EWIC), a high-voltage HVDC electricity link between Ireland and Great Britain.


 
Overview of Grid Development & Interconnection

Grid Development & Interconnection is the directorate within EirGrid responsible for developing and ensuring the maintenance of the transmission system. This responsibility includes the management of the Grid Development Programme and the optimisation and delivery of Projects.


Grid Development & Interconnection includes projects under investigation and optimisation, projects in public consultation and projects in construction. The programme includes the construction of new transmission circuits, the upgrade of the existing transmission system and the construction of a number of new high voltage stations.

 

Reporting to:  Manager, Transmission Projects.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Support project managers to ensure each project is being progressed within the required project governance
  • Assist with the review, development and design of project plans and procedures which contribute to the successful delivery of projects
  • Coordinate and validate information required for project monthly status reports
  • Maintain, report on contribute to the review of monthly financial spend reports
  • Gather and summarise the outputs of project work streams to ensure, with the project manager, that deliverables are recorded and acted upon; including attending project meetings to record and follow up on agreed actions
  • Prepare project management control documentation using templates available
  • Support the maintenance of up to date project management documents including risk register, project plan, financial tracking, issue log, action log, project programme and other reporting tools for approximately 30-40 projects
  • Carry out variance analysis and highlight issues and risks
    Co-ordinate stakeholder information in relation to project requirements, requests for information, etc.
  • Co-ordinate internal project communications, including preparation of reports and communication briefs including presentations
  • Assist the project team in coordinating the work of external consultants
  • Support project managers in preparation of documentation for project audits (internal and external)
  • Draft project change controls with input from project managers and ‘track ‘ through approval process
  • Support project managers in collating information in response to Freedom of Information requests.
     

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Third level qualification in business, engineering or equivalent
  • Flexible in approach and willingness to work across project teams as necessary
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a project coordination role
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft office suite, in particular Microsoft excel
  • Understanding of project management principles including scope/change management
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritise a wide range of demands and on-going activities
  • Keen judgement and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good communications skills including written and presentation.

Desirable

• Project Management Professional training and/or certification
• Experience in large scale planning or construction project.
