EirGrid Group manages, operates, maintains and develops the transmission grid across the island of Ireland.  EirGrid Group comprises Eirgrid in the Republic of Ireland & SONI in Northern Ireland.
Our network supplies power from generators to corporations and our grid also supplies electricity to everybody across the island of Ireland.  We are responsible for a safe, secure and reliable supply of electricity now and in the future. We forecast when and where Ireland and Northern Ireland needs electricity: hour-to-hour, day-to-day, and year-to-year.
 
Our Graduate Development Programme Overview
The Engineering Group of the EirGrid Group Graduate Development Programme is aimed at new and recently qualified graduates in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Civil or Energy Engineering.
 
Successful graduates will join the two year EirGrid Graduate Development Programme which begins in September 2018. The Programme offers structured rotations (typically 3 rotations), challenging assignments and exposure to different aspects of our business.  Throughout the Programme, our graduates will be provided with real responsibilities and a range of activities to ensure their knowledge of our business and their technical skills and experience are developed.
 
Job Description 
You will work in a number of our multi-disciplinary teams dealing with a range of operational, commercial and technical projects in a rapidly changing environment from the real time control of the country’s power system to the development of new large scale infrastructure projects, to collaboration with national and international stakeholders, to contributing to and influencing the design and development of the electricity market.
 
You will be involved in all aspects of our business to grow your knowledge and skills in all aspects of this dynamic sector including technical planning and operational, commercial, project management, regulatory, analytical, financial, research and electricity market activities.

Qualifications/Experience 
2:1 primary degree capability in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Civil or Energy Engineering.
 
Candidates should demonstrate, from their studies or work experience, the following skills and competencies:
•    Excellent knowledge within their chosen discipline
•    Strong analysis, judgement and problem solving skills
•    Good interpersonal skills/ Self-starter/high energy levels
•    Flexibility in approach to work and the ability to work within a team environment
•     Strong verbal and written communication skills with an interest in technical subject matter
•    Appreciation of customer and stakeholder needs and expectations
