The purpose of the role is to win FDI from clients in the Medical Technologies & Healthcare services sectors, with responsibility for responding to client requests for information, organizing client site visits to Ireland and the conversion of client engagement into job-creating investments.   This role will liaise with overseas executives in North America and Europe, focusing on new investment.

This position is based in Athlone


  • To work with the divisional team in Athlone & Overseas  to undertake market research and identify investment opportunities from clients across medical technologies and healthcare services
  • To setup and handle site visits from target companies, building relationships with senior visiting executives and providing follow up information upon completion of site visits; 
  • To contribute to the preparation of investment proposals for submission to the IDA Ireland Board and Committees;
  • To demonstrate knowledge of and to fluently articulate Ireland’s value proposition for the respective sector;
  • In conjunction with the relevant global team in Ireland, to actively engage with and contribute to the Client Development Process (CDP) creating new, or developing existing business opportunities for the purpose of creating long term sustained employment;
  • To maintain and update information on existing companies, target companies and industry trends using CRM;
  • To demonstrate flexibility in undertaking additional tasks as may be assigned.
  • To ensure that continuous learning and development is undertaken through informal and formal learning and participation in the Performance Management and Development Review Process;

Further activities will include:

  • To work with the global team to provide timely, accurate and compelling information in response to client requests for information relating to prospective investments
  • To support executives in Ireland or overseas in planning and running of industry networking events and/or attendance/exhibition at conferences
  • To work with the global MedTech  team to continuously improve divisional marketing material (PowerPoints, brochures) to outline Ireland’s value proposition in key areas (e.g. manufacturing, services, R&D) and ensure these are customized for various territories and clients
  • To explore and apply ways of driving efficiencies in service delivery;
  • To support members of the IDA team in preparation for and follow up from overseas marketing trips
  • To capture and share relevant market place sectoral intelligence with the global team and US team to ensure the  continuous strengthening of the sectoral strategy of winning new investment opportunities for Ireland;
  • To collaborate  and work on key new initiatives to assist in the continued growth of the sector in Ireland
  • To operate as part of a cohesive global life sciences team;

  • To commit to continuous learning and development of self and to share knowledge with colleagues through utilisation of the CRM.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, flexibly as a member of a team and independently on own initiative in terms of time worked and tasks undertaken
  • 3rd level business/sector related qualification and/or relevant business experience is essential
  • Full driving license is essential
  • Experience in the area of life sciences (medtech, pharmaceuticals, biotech) is desirable but not essential
  • Capability in the area of social media/digital marketing is desirable

Salary Scale  

€42,306 non negotiable

This position is based in Athlone.

Yearly increments of €2,315 per annum to a maximum of €60,987
