Rush Nursing Home are now looking for a caring, empathetic and reliable Senior Healthcare Assistantsto join their multi-disciplinary team on a full time basis.

Candidates must have experience as a Healthcare Assistant and relevant qualification in QQI (or equivalent).

The Senior Care Assistant Role
The Senior Care Assistant works as a member of the team delivering day to day care to the residents. The Senior Care Assistant works within the Care Team to direct and oversee the day to day quality of non-clinical care.

As a team member, the Senior Care Assistant contributes to the fulfilment of the Mowlam Healthcare Philosophy of Care, ensuring the residents privacy, dignity, respect and choice and supports the Named Nurse concept in the delivery of nursing care.

What does this role entail?
In addition to existing duties and responsibilities, a Senior Care Assistant will also be required to carry out the following:
  • Oversee the Care Assistant Teams to ensure that best working practices are implemented
  • Disseminate information and work directives issued by senior management
  • Participate in induction programmes and assist in identifying training needs and discuss same with Home Manager
  • Ensure Individual Care Plans are delivered appropriately
  • Promote mobility of the resident, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure residents retains optimum mobility
  • Maintain high levels of communication between resident’s family and staff, developing good relationships
  • Participate in organising and carrying out devised activity programmes
  • Assisting in the maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness in the Home
  • Contribute to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the Home
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Nurse in Charge
Qualifications/Skills
  • FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or equivalent
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lead and be part of a team
  • Caring, kind, patient and empathetic nature
  • Fluent level of English both written and oral
