Intro to team

Ipsos MORI’s International Social Research unit is a large and growing team of researchers, specialising in multi-country projects, based across our offices in London and Brussels. Our team includes a number of experienced survey methodologists, respected in their fields, who provide support and training within the unit and across the company.

We are able to draw on the global coverage of Ipsos to deliver research for our clients, with offices in 87 countries and global coverage through our trusted network of partners around the world. We work with a very wide range of multi-national organisations, NGOs, national governments and private companies on major international studies across policy areas.

 The Role

 An exciting opportunity has arisen within our International Social Research unit for an experienced researcher to join the team in central London to work on multi-country research projects. The successful candidate will have a background in quantitative social research, with sampling experience/skills. We are open to considering candidates of different levels of experience, with salary and grade reflecting what the candidate can offer.


What you’ll be doing….

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Survey design, including sampling and weighting, with a focus on random probability survey methodologies
  • Writing technical reports, input into proposals
  • Working with international suppliers, overseeing the application of survey methods, briefing local agencies in a variety of countries
  • Quality assurance tasks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Conducting and overseeing desk research on selected methodological topics
  • Opportunities to broaden methodological skills (designing experiments, writing working papers, attending conferences on methodological topics)  

About you…

 Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following (core skills)

  • Understanding of social research methodology, in particular on random probability sampling, and the desire to develop their knowledge further;
  • Experience of working on sample designs/sampling for social surveys;
  • Knowledge of Excel and SPSS;
  • Good written English;
  • Good understanding, and ideally experience, of all data collection modes (face-to-face, CATI, online);
  • Experience of working in social research.

The following would be beneficial in the role (desirable skills):

  • Experience of working on multi-country research projects;
  • Technical skills in relation to drawing samples and implementing weighting schemes;
  • Advanced analytical skills, including multivariate analysis;
  • Foreign language skills
