Are you looking to develop your career in one of the world’s largest Research Organisations?
Ipsos MORI Public Affairs are the leaders in social research. We bridge the gap between government and the public, providing robust research and evaluation. We cover broad issues that shape the delivery of public services in modern society and how to engage the public in the policy-making process.

The role…
We are looking for a Research Manager or similar to support teams working across Transport & Infrastructure, Politics & Society, Cohesion & Security and Energy & Environment.

The role may suit anyone with an interest in working across a variety of policy areas, or someone with a specific interest in one of the areas. We pride ourselves on delivering results to clients that can be acted on and impact on policy-making across the public sector. The work mix includes evaluation studies and both qualitative and quantitative research.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to contribute to studies which influence and inform decisions across Government on many of the key issues of the day.
We would prefer a mixed-methods researcher but open to the right person so qualitative or quantitative researchers should also apply.

Note: This is a Fixed Term Contract to Dec 2021. The opportunities at Ipsos MORI are endless, we are always hiring for skilled researchers so whilst this is a fixed term role, there are potential opportunities at the end of this contract across the organisation.

The main responsibilities will include:
  • Managing smaller research projects from inception through to delivery or managing elements of larger studies.
  • Drafting questionnaires and discussion guides that meet clients’ and stakeholders’ objectives.
  • Drafting fieldwork materials such as invitation letters, recruitment materials and interviewer instructions.
  • Monitoring fieldwork and undertaking qualitative fieldwork.
  • Checking data files and using SPSS, Excel and/or other tools to manipulate data.
  • Monitoring a project’s financial progress, identifying problems and suggesting solutions.
  • Communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Effectively managing relationships with suppliers and with internal operations colleagues to ensure the objectives of the research are met and on budget.
  • Providing direction and support to junior team members.
  • Become part of our team and contribute to a positive, supportive environment where people are encouraged to challenge themselves to develop their skills.
What do I need to bring with me?
This role will suit candidates who enjoy working closely with clients, often delivering at a fast pace. We welcome interest from people with either a quant and/or qual background.
We are looking for someone with:
  • Very good social research skills and ability to comfortably pick up projects and deliver day-to-day.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organised, and solutions-focused.
  • Time management skills, working across multiple projects, prioritising tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work to tight and demanding deadlines to deliver profitable work and assure quality of all outputs.
  • Experience in writing questionnaires and fieldwork materials.
  • Proficiency in Excel, and ideally in SPSS and/or other packages.
  • Ability to understand complex data.
  • Very good communication, client handling and supplier negotiation skills.
  • Strong writing skills and experience of preparing written reports and presentations, with a high level of accurate use of English, including the ability to write in a variety of styles.
  • Proven ability to work well in teams.
  • Interest in working across and ability to pick up different policy areas, and/or a specific interest in one of the following: Transport & Infrastructure, Politics & Society, Cohesion & Security and Energy & Environment.
