Are you looking to develop your career in one of the world’s largest Research Organisations?
Ipsos MORI Public Affairs are the leaders in social research. We bridge the gap between government and the public, providing robust research and evaluation. We are looking for an Associate Director or similar to work across the Trade, Innovation & Enterprise and Employment, Welfare & Skills teams on a fixed term contract basis until the end of 2021.

The opportunities at Ipsos MORI are endless, we are always hiring for skilled researchers so whilst this is a Fixed Term Contract, there are potential opportunities at the end of this contract across the organisation.

Recent studies have included assessing the effects of changes to Universal Credit service delivery on claimants, public perceptions to inform development of a new Pensions Dashboard, measuring business readiness for the end of the Brexit transition period, and understanding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses and their use of government financial support.

The role…
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to lead high profile studies which influence and inform Government decision-making.
We are ideally looking for either a quantitative researcher, or someone with mixed-methods experience, with excellent survey design skills (including complex sampling and weighting approaches) and strong technical skills (including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SPSS).
The main responsibilities will include:
  • Taking responsibility and accountability for overall delivery and quality of projects.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial set-up and design of questionnaires and samples, to leading analysis plans to deliver the final data.
  • Signing off deliverables (questionnaires, data tables, SPSS files, presentations and reports) which meet clients’ and stakeholders’ objectives.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, policymakers, internal and external suppliers, and internal colleagues both in writing and verbally.
  • Providing direction and support to junior team members.
  • Effectively managing relationships with suppliers and internal operations colleagues to ensure the objectives of the research are met on time and to budget.
  • Become part of our team and contribute to a positive, supportive environment where people are encouraged to challenge themselves to develop their skills.

What do I need to bring with me?
This role will suit candidates who enjoy working closely with clients, often delivering at a fast pace. We particularly welcome interest from people with either a quant and/or mixed methods background.
We are looking for someone with:
  • Desire to work closely with clients to maintain and grow our contracts.
  • Excellent quantitative research skills: able to lead multiple projects and support junior members of the team to develop their research and project management skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines to deliver profitable work and assure quality of all outputs.
  • Ability to lead development of high quality research materials which answer client objectives.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex data to draw out a clear narrative and insight to inform client decision making.
  • Excellent client handling and supplier negotiation skills.
  • Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience of preparing presentations (and ideally written reports) with a high level of accurate use of English.
  • We are happy and willing to support candidates to develop their knowledge of our clients’ policy areas so experience of this is not a prerequisite for applying.
