Are you looking to develop a career in within one of the world’s largest Research Organisations?

The Sustainable Development Research Centre (SDRC) in Ipsos MORI’s Public Affairs division works to make sure that robust data and analysis underpin the decisions that shape sustainable development policy and programming for clients such as donors and international organisations.

Our team spans across Ipsos MORI’s Policy & Evaluation unit (a team of economists and social policy researchers) and International Social Research unit (a team of researchers specialised in managing large-scale, multi-country studies), and works closely with Ipsos’ global offices. We are looking for a Senior Consultant to join us to support the continued growth of our sustainable development-related evaluation and research portfolio.

The role….
As a Senior Consultant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of mixed-method evaluations of development programmes and research projects. You will manage inputs from evaluation and research project teams, as well as partners. You will also play an important role in business development, supporting the growth of the SDRC by contributing to winning evaluation and research proposals and identifying market opportunities, developing thought leadership pieces, and supporting the team and wider management of the business. This role will be primarily internationally focused, and there may be opportunities in the future to travel.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
  • Managing evaluation projects through the full project cycle, from evaluation design, to data collection and analysis, through to developing conclusions and recommendations
  • Developing client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered to budget and timescale
  • Working closely with research teams in London and other global Ipsos locations to execute evaluation studies and coordinate research
  • Drafting accessible and concise reporting outputs of evaluation and research findings
  • Presentation of results to clients and stakeholders
  • Developing research tools (e.g. evaluation frameworks, questionnaires, discussion guides)
  • Contributing to evaluation and research proposals as part of a wider team
  • Developing external partnerships
  • Line management of junior staff
  • Involvement in the team-based and wider professional development of the SDRC, Policy and Evaluation unit, and International Social Research unit.

What do I need to bring with me?
  • A strong academic background in international development or a related field (e.g. economics or international public policy)
  • Extensive experience of delivering evaluation or management consultancy assignments in the development sector, including in a commercial environment
  • Proven ability of managing and delivering projects to timescale and budget with limited supervision
  • Proven ability to contribute to winning evaluation and research proposals
  • Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluation problems
  • Strong interest/expertise in one or more areas relevant to the SDG agenda (ideally economic growth, innovation, gender equality and inclusion, health, education, or humanitarian)
  • Time management skills and ability to work across multiple projects, prioritising tasks efficiently
  • Curiosity and drive to support business growth
  • Interest in developing junior members of the team to fulfil their potential

  • Experience working in a country in the Global South
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English
