We are looking for an Automation Consultant to lead automation efforts across Ipsos MORI Public Affairs supporting the research teams that lead projects. The role will suit someone with a technical computer programming skillset. You will drive your own workload through your own curiosity and innovation; acting as the go-to for teams to come to for advice, you will research, develop and maintain tools to help automate a variety of activities.

The role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically-minded individual to design, create and maintain tools and solutions to help improve processes and efficiencies across the Public Affairs team, with the focus on automation.
The main responsibilities will include:
  • Researching, developing and maintaining automated solutions for Public Affairs Research Teams.
  • Staying up-to-date with latest tech. developments with the intention of introducing them to Ipsos MORI where possible.
  • Being an advocate for automation efforts across Public Affairs, and where possible sharing lessons learnt with the wider Ipsos MORI.
  • Communicating with staff across different levels of seniority to help explore potential solutions, and showcase the range of tools available to them
  • Develop and run training sessions focused at enhancing the technical skills of Public Affairs.
  • Maintain the UK Speed and Simplicity Soap Box – a fortnightly half-hour session helping to share innovations across the wider company.
  • Maintain and enhance pre-existing tools and solutions which help tackle challenges in a number of key areas of the business such as time management, data quality checking, corporate notifications and the Automation intranet site.
  • Become part of the Public Affairs team and contribute to a positive, supportive environment where people are encouraged to challenge themselves to do tasks quicker and more efficiently and cost-effectively.

What do I need to bring with me?
This role will suit candidates who enjoy working closely with colleagues, often delivering at a fast pace.
We are looking for someone with experience in developing tools and solutions, who has:
  • Proficiency in either VBA, SQL or Python; knowledge of other languages may be useful
  • Ability to analyse processes and find ways to automate them for increased efficiency and accuracy
  • The ability to comfortably pick up projects with minimal direction and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail, organised, and solutions-focused, producing high quality outputs.
  • Time management skills, working across multiple projects, prioritising tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to understand complex data.
  • Very good communication skills – able to assess and discuss requirements with staff of all levels and with varying technical abilities
  • Strong presentation and training skills, being able to effectively hand over solutions to a non-technical audience.
  • Proven ability to work well independently.
