The Human Resources Department is currently searching for a Temporary Senior Benefits Consultant/Analyst to join their team. This is a temporary (6 month contract), full-time, exempt position, and is eligible for benefits

JOB SUMMARY:

WHOI seeks to find an experienced Temporary Senior Benefits Consultant / Analyst to assist with internal audits, data cleanup and administration of employee benefit plans including but not limited to retiree medical, defined benefit (pension), defined contribution (403(b)).  Individual will also help provide prompt, accurate, and professional customer service to employees, retirees and eligible dependents and act as liaison between vendors and carriers to research and resolve complex service issues.  The ideal candidate will be extremely knowledgeable with retirement and health and welfare benefit plans administration and management and possess a high attention to detail. 

Individual will assist with analysis of various benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, and qualified retirement plans.  May from time to time advise and educates employees and/or retirees on eligibility requirements, benefit plans and requirements.   Performs a variety of administrative, transactional work analyzing and administering the various components of the employer sponsored benefit programs, researching carriers and service providers for review; ensuring employee proof of coverage and accurate billing and ensuring adherence to Plan provisions, local, state and federal benefit statutes while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.  Support the benefits team by performing assigned internal audit, operational and transactional tasks required to evaluate, design and administer employee health and welfare, and retirement benefits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist internal audits, data cleanup and administration of employee benefit plans including but not limited to retiree medical, defined benefit (pension), defined contribution (403(b))
  • Keen attention to detail with a high regard for accuracy
  • Counsels employees, retirees and beneficiaries on various HR and benefit inquiries related to plan eligibility, plan provisions and options, and enrollment and change processes
  • Responds to benefit plan inquiries in person, writing and telephonically
  • Follows established procedures for documenting volumes and metrics related to requests for information, inquiries, status and follow up information as needed
  • Scans appropriate documents
  • Participates in team and HR projects as needed

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • As deemed necessary by supervisor

DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 8-10 years relevant Benefits Administration experience, preferably as a plan sponsor
  • Aptitude for math, comfort with data
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high pressure environment while remaining flexible as needs and work priorities change
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational skills and attention to detail is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer interfacing skills, the ability to consult with customers and stakeholders and work and communicate effectively in person, by telephone and by email
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel (including advanced functions), Outlook, and Adobe and able to use multiple technology devices
  • Ability to learn Human Resources information systems
  • Bachelor's degree

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical duties required for this position include the ability to lift less than 25 lbs. and carry up to 10 lbs. This position is mostly sedentary in nature, requires occasional standing, walking and repetitive motion as well as the use of hands for basic/fine grasping/manipulating. The occupational requirements for this position are the ability to work with and around other individuals as well as alone. Physical duties are subject to change.
