The Facilities Department is searching for a Food Service Assistant / Distribution Assistant to join their team. This is a non-exempt, casual position that is not eligible for benefits.


Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor and under general direction, provides assistance and support to Food Services. 
  • Prepares, serves and sells morning coffee-break snacks and light lunches for Institution personnel; occasionally shops for supplies; receives deliveries and stores supplies in proper location; washes dishes and utensils; keeps food service facility in order; works with food service equipment. 
  • Assists with food preparation, working point of sale, cleaning, and stocking shelves.
  • May deem necessary by supervisor

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
  • Kitchen experience helpful.
For this position physical attributes are lifting less than 25 pounds as well as the ability to carry up to 10 pounds 10 times per day. Occasional and frequent prolonged standing/walking. Bending, Stooping, Twisting is essential. The use of hands for basic grasping/manipulation and fine manipulation is necessary. Reaching above and below the shoulders is essential. Visual abilities include depth perception, far and near vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing abilities include the ability to hear alarms as well as talking. Must be able to work with others as well as alone. Must be able to work around others in a professional manner. May be exposed to electrical/mechanical/power equipment hazards. Physical duties are subject to change.
